An attack on Ukraine can only harm Russia, Ukraine and humanity – Vitalik Buterin

The Ethereum co-founder, Vitalik Buterin says that an attack by Russia on Ukraine would “only harm Russia, Ukraine and humanity”. He enjoined the parties involved in the conflict to embrace peace by making the right choice.

Buterin made the statement on Friday in a tweet that he wrote in Russian but the full translation states”

“An attack on Ukraine can only harm Russia, Ukraine and humanity. Whether the situation will return to a peaceful path or there will be a war can now be decided not by Zelensky, not by NATO, but by @KremlinRussia

I hope they choose wisely.”

Tensions are high between Russia and NATO since the latter made moves to make Ukraine a member of NATO, a move that Russia considers to be against its national security.

The president of Russia had in a  press conference made it clear that if Ukraine joins NATO and attempts to take back Crimea by military means, that such a move would result in an all-out war by Russia. Considering Russia’s capabilities, this is a situation that NATO and Russia wouldn’t want.

Buterin is a Russian-Canadian. This could be the reason why he felt that he also has a stake in what is happening in the region.

However, not all the tweeps are in support of Buterin’s viewpoint and some actually said that he had been watching too much news on CNN. Their opinion is that the aggressors are NATO, who are moving close to Russia’s doorsteps with the invitation to Ukraine.
