Scams come in different shades because the scammer has to think of ways to convince or trick their victims to send them money. This Cryptamixer scam will give you an insight into some of the wiles employed by the tricksters in their quest to make money.

Sometimes, scammers simply clone other websites and use similar domains to steal from the customers of the authentic site as seen with Cryptomixer.io which has been cloned by Cryptamixer.io and another scam site, Cryptomixer.us. Scammers are behind both and you would do well to avoid them.

What is Cryptamixer?

This is a supposed blender that enables people to obliterate the source of their bitcoins so that blockchain analysis does not trace the coins back to the original wallet.

Ordinarily, this is a legitimate business because bitcoin mixing or blending service is used by individuals who want to retain their privacy considering that bitcoin has been proven not anonymous.

A bitcoin blending effectively makes the coin private and untraceable by accepting coin from a wallet and mixing it with coins from other wallets and sourced. It then sends the exact volume of coins back to the original wallet but the coins sent are the ones that have thoroughly been mixed that blockchain analysis wouldn’t trace its source.

A Cloned Bitcoin Mixer

Ordinarily, it is risky business to send your coins to a bitcoin blending service because there are many scammers in the business. Before you send your coins to any mixing or blending service, it is important to make sure that they have online reputation and not a service that would steal your coins.

Nevertheless, there are times when things are not as they seem as in the case of Cryptamixer.io which is a phishing site that has cloned a reputable blending service, Cryptomixer.com. What the phishing service has done is use Google Adword to promote their phishing site so that it is returned in Google search when users search for Cryptominer.io.

Unsuspecting users would click on Cryptaminer.io believing it is Cryptominer.io. With an identically cloned site, there is no reason to suspect that it is a phishing site. Sending your coins to this website would result in loss of the bitcoins.

The scam owners of Cryptamixer.io have copied and cloned Cryptomixer.io that there is no difference between the two sites. Even a user of the main service could be deceived, thinking that they are on the real site.

Scammed Five Figures

A user of Cryptominer.io shared his experience with the phishing site and wants people to take note so they do not fall victims to the scammers.

According to him,

“[I] just got scammed out of 5 figures worth of USD by the cryptamixer.io phishing scam. [I have] been using cryptomixer.io for sometime – always a good service.

I typed cryptomixer.io into Google and clicked the first link (not realizing it was an ad link) – I clicked fast without looking properly as I was in a hurry.

[I] sent coins without verifying the letter of guarantee as was in a hurry and I’ve used cryptomixer.io loads of times without any problems from many, many mixes. Clicked off and several hours later wondered where the f…. my coins were. Spent two hours trying to figure it out, then when retracing my steps on how I got to the URL, I realized it was a f…. phishing link.”

A Timely Advice

His advice to users is to always double-check the URL of the site they’re using, verify the letter of guarantee and not mix their coins when they are in a hurry.

If you’re interested in mixing your bitcoins, beware Cryptomixer and Cryptamixer and two different sites. The latter is a phishing clone of the former.

For instance, in the home page of the phishing site Cryptamixer.io, it says,

“CryptoMixer.io was built from ground up with inputs from the Bitcoin community. We understand our operation runs on trust and protect our reputation with the highest efforts. We produce a “Letter of Guarantee” for every transaction within the system. Our support is ready to be at your service round the clock. We are on a mission to make transactions safer and untraceable while contributing towards privacy over internet transactions.”

The words were copied from the Cryptomixer website to fool the absent minded or those that could not cross-check. Do not lose your coins to this scam.
