
Gemini’s top leadership team were in the Asia-Pacific region as a part of the company’s expansion plan in the wake of a regulatory onslaught by US regulators. A release by the exchange said that the visit is part of its strategy to make their presence in the region more pronounced.
It said that the next 12 months will see the company expand its employee count in places like Singapore and India, countries that it considers its hub in the Asia-Pacific and its engineering base respectively.
The release said that the number of Gemini employees in Singapore is expected to exceed 100 in the next 12 months. Within this period, it will construct its engineering base in India.
APAC will drive next crypto growth – Gemini
The report said,
“We are excited to announce our expansion plans in APAC as Gemini’s leadership team recently visited the region on their global odyssey to propel the promise of crypto. Over the next 12 months, we plan to increase our headcount to 100+ in Singapore. Our APAC expansion will also include an engineering base in India.”
The company said that its belief in the region as a crypto hub informs its decision to strengthen its operational presence there. It added that the company sees APAC as the catalyst that will drive the next wave of cryptocurrency growth for the exchange and the industry, adding that Singapore will be instrumental to that growth as its central hub in the Asia-Pacific.
Support for HKD, AUD and SGD
In December 2020, Gemini introduced its support for the Singapore dollar (SGD), making it possible for Singapore residents to have easy access to its services. With its support for Hong Kong dollar (HKD) and the Australian dollar (AUD), Gemini said that its customers in the regions will easily buy, sell, and store several cryptocurrencies on its platform, which it described as a world-class security storage system.
