Baccarat doubles your bet easily if you win. The winning hand is the one that gets a score closest to 9. So your interest is to bet that either the player or the banker would get the score closest to 9. You can also bet that they would score the same value which corresponds to a tie in baccarat.

Playing Baccarat

The game commenced with the dealer distributing the shuffled cards. The cards are distributed to the player and the banker facing up, with each getting two cards.

Betting on the banker gives you 95% of your bet value if the banker wins. When the score of a hand is greater than 9, the first digit is dropped or 10 is subtracted to give the final score. This means that if the hand gives a total score of 16, the final score is counted as 6.

If the total score of the player and banker is less than 9, they both stand. A total score of 5 for the player entitles them to another card. If the banker has a score of 5 or less, the player stands.

The simplicity of the game accounts for its popularity. The bettor however ought to understand that the banker does not represent the house. Even though pundits advise that you always back the banker.

You also place your bet before the cards are dealt for either the player, the banker or a tie. You cannot bet on both player and banker, player and a tie, or banker and a tie. Only bet on one possibility to qualify for a win if your bet wins.

Player’s two cards are placed on the player’s box, while the banker’s is placed on the banker’s box. All cards are placed facing up. The player gets two cards and the banker gets two cards.

The first card dealt goes to the player in their box, the second card, which is the banker’s first, goes to the banker’s box. The third card from the shoe goes to the player as their second while the fourth card goes to the banker as their second.

Calculating Scores

It is important to know that 10s and face cards have the value of zero. Aces have the value of 1, while all others have their face value. To win, the total score must be closer to 9 than the opponent’s.

If the first hand gives scores of 8 and 9, the round is over and bets won or lost since no other cards would be dealt. Players draw an extra card if they score 5 or less. If the banker has a score of 8 or 9, there will be no extra card for the player even though they have less than 5.

If the banker has a value of 5 or less, they draw a third card, but wouldn’t if they have a score of 6 or 7.

If the player’s third card has the value of 9 or 10, the banker draws a third if his score is 0 through 3. They wouldn’t if they already had a 4 through 7 score.

If the player draws 8 on their third, the banker draws if they have scores of 0 through 2. If they have 3 through 7, they stay.

The player drawing a third card of 6 or 7 entitles the banker to draw if he has 0 through 6. With a 7, they stay.

A third card of 4 or 5 drawn by the player entitled the banker to draw a third if they have a score of 0 through 5. 6 and 7 they stay.

The player, if he draws 2 or 3 on his third, entitles the banker to a third draw if they have a score of 0 through 4. 5 through 7, they stay.

Bear in mind that some casinos would deduct a commission on winnings when you bet on the banker.
