The Polygon Supernets make it easier for new blockchains to be built. This is according to a release by the Polygon team seen by Cryptoinfowatch. According to the blog post, Polygon Supernets is a configurable infrastructure that uses the Polygon Edge. It will play an active role in driving blockchain adoption due to the ease that it affords people that want to deploy blockchain networks. The platform will also make it easy to deploy decentralized applications (dApps) and enterprise solutions in a secure and decentralized manner.
The report stated that the security of the network is guaranteed by validators who stake the native token of the Polygon Network (MATIC). The validators are sure to maintain the highest ethical and operational standard in the security of the platform by staking some MATIC which is in their interest to protect.
The update made it clear that:
“Any validator misbehavior is met with instant repercussions on the amount staked”
The report stated that some of the features of the Polygon Edge powered Polygon Supernets are:
Compatibility with the Ethereum blockchain, interoperability with blockchains that are compatible with EVM and a high performance. Another feature that users would benefit from is the ability to customize the Polygon Supernets to get desired functionalities in the blockchain.
Forms Of Supernets
The Polygon Supernets was built to operate in different nodes. The Polygon team stated that these are modes that have been tailored to meet different operational demands of the desired blockchain. These are the Shared Security Chain, Sovereign Chain and the L2 Chain.
Shared Security Chain mode is secured by dedicated validators who stake MATIC tokens, while Sovereign Chain is hosted on a dedicated platform by a professional validator. The L2 Chain is a supernets that uses ZK-rollups.
Supernets Architecture
In describing the architecture of the Polygon Supernets, the team explained that it is designed as a platform where existing blockchains, as well as new ones can be deployed. It affords the users a high performance and scalable environment where enterprise solutions and dApps can be built using the Polygon Edge infrastructure.
Its decentralized proof-of-stake implies that the user doesn’t have to maintain the network, this is handled by a dedicated core of professional validators. This provides needed security from the onset of the deployment of the blockchain infrastructure.
Expected Features
The Polygon team added that new features that will be added to the Polygon Supernets include a Polygon-Ethereum bridge that is gas efficient. Others are a configurable extra security checkpoint to the Polygon or Ethereum mainnet, Edge network Blockexplorer, Infura, which is an alchemy-like RPC and cross-chain bridging for the Edge network.
