Trip.com delves into NFTs to bridge the gap between Web 3 and the travel service

NFT Trip.com, the global travel services company has made a foray into the NFT space with the announcement that it will soon launch collectibles that will serve users of its services. According to a release from the company, the essence is to bridge the gap between real-world travel and the digital space. As the first supplier of a global travel service to explore the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), Trip.com said that it has already made history by developing its first collection, “Trekki.”

Trekki NFT value based on rarity

The 10,000 NFTs in the Trekki collection, which have a dolphin cartoon theme and are currently available for registration on the company’s website. These NFTs will be packaged in blind boxes starting in Q3 2023. Trekki is divided into categories based on its rarity, with each NFT having a unique persona and a variety of trip experiences. Trekki aims to connect Web3 nomads with the travel industry by providing a variety of advantages on Trip.com for travelers who appreciate distinctive experiences and digital collectibles. The new NFT also features a special gamified growth mechanism called Trekki, which allows users to gain rewards as they travel more. Trekki is Trip.com’s first excursion into Web3 and establishes it as one of the pioneering international travel service companies to investigate the NFT sector.

Giving users more value in real-time travel

To provide holders with more advantages and promote a link between digital and actual travel experiences, the NFT project is also looking to collaborate with successful Web3 players and tourism partners. On May 5, Trip.com announced a partnership with Prime Planet, describing it as an adventure of a lifetime. On May 28, 2023, the company stated in a Twitter post that the Prime Ape Planet collaboration will connect holders of its NFTs with real-life experience in the global travel industry.
