Is Justin Sun of Tron Dropping $20 Million from The Sky?

tron giveaway

A recent tweet from the Tron CEO Justin Sun has all the features of a Twitter crypto scam that many are wondering if the tweet originated from the Tron founder.

Followers of Sun were astounded with the tweet which was posted on March 12. The post bearing a poster titled, “Global Appreciation Campaign” stated:

“To celebrate #BTT & #USDT#TRON success, I am planning a $20m free cash airdrop. Good news-it’s coming, bad news-I may decide to give away more! First, I will randomly pick 1 winner for a #Tesla up until 3/27! To apply, follow me and RT this tweet! Simple! #Blockchain

The reaction to the tweet was mostly doubtful as many of Sun’s diehard followers were of the opinion that the Tron founder’s account was hacked.

A visibly amused Sun made another tweet to shed light on his earlier tweet and convince his followers that the previous tweet originated from him. In the new tweet, he wrote,

“My earlier tweet wasn’t a hack. #Tronics appreciation is always real! #Tesla will be on its way to a lucky winner! #TRON #TRX #BTT #BitTorrent

Sun Known for Hype Tweets

Many analysts were not surprised that the tweet was authentic. This was mainly because Sun has been known to use some very unorthodox methods to promote the platform.

There is no doubt that the approach has worked well for the Tron network considering that it has come a long way since it launched its successful ICO. Essentially succeeding where many have failed.

Similar to Crypto Giveaway Scams

The tweet which is a mirror image of common Twitter scams may be an intentional sales pitch by Sun to create that very impression to his followers.

At a time when most crypto influencers use disclaimers on their accounts to make followers wary of scam giveaways by stating that they were not “giving away ETH”, Sun may have realized that the uproar his tweet would generate was enough to make the crypto community to take a closer look at what the Tron network is doing.

Tron is known for hype but it has paid the network well placing it among the top 10 coins according to market capitalization.

Courting Cheap Publicity

The difference between the Justin Sun tweet and shillers is that he didn’t specify sending payments to an address which is enough evidently shows that the tweet originated from the Tron founder.

Sun is known to court controversies apparently in his quest to create cheap publicity for the Tron network. He fell out with founders of crypto networks such as Ethereum, Cardano and EOS usually through some of his irrational tweets.

We are following the Tron giveaway to see how it works out.
