A project that would place artworks in the form of NFTs in the moon has selected two Latin American artists’ works. This was announced by Minte Art, the organization that the Mexican artists work with.
The works of two artists from Hong Kong-based Minte Art are among several others that would grace the lunar museum, which is scheduled for launch in June. Guille Blancarte and Carlos Segovia Alanis are Minte Art linked artists. They are among 222 others whose works will be exhibited at the museum, according to a report from the South China Morning Post.
The first-of-a-kind
The Lunar Surface Museum is a first-of-its-kind exhibition of artworks delivered by SpaceX rocket. Mint Art, the Hong Kong-based art platform, was founded by Latin Americans who wanted to promote the concept of art without borders. The founders are Marcela Barros, Mireya Garcia, and Andrea Estrella, all of whom are based in Hong Kong.
What was a modest beginning is currently in the news for having two of its artists’ works among those that will be part of the lunar museum.
The two Minte artists have come a long way. The selection of their works came after winning BitBasel’s Art for Impact Challenge. The competition was held during Miami Art Week in December 2022.
A nest of innovation
“Hong Kong is a nest of innovation, on par with the USA or Europe for creativity. “It is a land of revolutionary opportunities for any market, and even more so for the creative market,” says Marcela Barros, one of the co-founders of Minte Art.
The company is excited because of the visibility that the Lunaprice Moon Museum would give them. This is considering the fact that the boutique wouldn’t have to do anything more for the recognition.
The report said that the artworks of the two artists would first be etched onto nanofiche disks. This would make it indestructible prior to being included in the museum.
NFT is a revolution of the arts
The museum owner, Galactic Legacy Labs, has partnered with the Arch Mission Foundation, which is dedicated to the preservation of human knowledge.
The project scheduled for launch in June is part of Intuitive Machines’ IM-1 mission. It involves a Nova-C lander, which is part of the payload of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. The Nova-C was developed as part of NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services program.
“NFTs revolutionized not only the art movement but the way we express and view art and created even bigger possibilities for artists,” Garcia said, another co-founder of Minte Art.
